Set in idyllic Somerset surrounds, The Old House at Home is a traditional ivy-clad pub with six luxury guest rooms that have been awarded five AA stars. The aptly named pub’s interior is as cosy as can be, with a roaring fire, exposed stonework, warm lighting and tasteful decor. Expect delicious food, fine wine, carefully selected beer and guest ales and a relaxed and friendly atmosphere in which to dine.
The food at The Old House at Home is second to none and your meals are given the utmost care and attention. The chefs go to great lengths to source the best quality seasonal produce that the local area has to offer. Delicious fish and seafood dishes are created with produce that’s delivered daily from Looe in Cornwall, and most of the tender steaks come from local specialist butchers. With such fantastic produce available, it’s no surprise that the menu showcases a wide range of enticing dishes. Start with a classic such as prawn cocktail with crostini, or the homemade soup of the day served with handmade bread, both of which can be served gluten-free upon request. For the main event, choose from seasonal classics like woodland duck breast, Dauphinoise potatoes, chipolata, and purple sprouting broccoli, or perhaps the slow-roasted pork belly with parsley mash, spring greens and caramelised apple. Vegetarians can choose the button and chestnut mushroom Stroganoff with baked squash rice and rocket, and the fresh tagliatelle with artichokes, red onion, and tomatoes with rocket and Parmesan.
In-house sommelier Matt Warburton has put a lovely wine list together, ensuring that you can find the perfect tipple to accompany your meal. If you need any advice, the friendly team is always on-hand to help you decide. If you’re just stopping by for drinks with friends, why not share a couple of appetisers? Alternatively, call in on a Sunday and tuck into a delicious Sunday lunch – you can bring your pup along too.
