Rolling fields surround the pub/ restaurant and these can be viewed through the windows adjacent to the tables. Spring and summer is a special treat when the flowers and bulbs are in bloom and one can sit outside and enjoy what the season has to offer.

The pub interior is charming, characterful and comfortable. Antique mirrors and solid wood furnishings and fittings provide a rustic feel. The peaceable vibe is made richer by friendly service - sit back and allow the homely atmosphere to wrap itself around you.

The menu provides a great variety of traditional pub food and some unusually exotic dishes. I opted for the seafood laksa, which consisted of tiger prawns, scallops and mussels with linguini and bean sprouts in a spicy coconut sauce. It was as good as you would find in Thailand. The puddings were homely and hearty - rhubarb crumble, bread and butter pudding, cheesecake - all up to the high standard of the rest of the meal.

All in all, a very good evening - I would go back just to sample the laksa once again.
