From Sunday through to Tuesday evening, the restaurant area is available for private hire, and there is live music - folk and jazz, usually - on the first Sunday of every month. Every Wednesday ladies receive 20% off all restaurant meals.

Located a few miles west of the M4's junction 12 and with numerous blue chip organisations in the vicinity, the Six Bells' conference facilities and function room provide the ideal setting for business meetings. There are four en-suite rooms with picturesque views of the West Berkshire countryside, and the tariff includes a full English breakfast of the highest quality.

The à la carte menu caters for all palates, and after much deliberation I chose duck and Cointreau pâté for starters, and Peking cod with lemon sauce and spring onions for the main course. These I pleasantly washed down with the house pinot grigio. I finished with a dessert of the recommended blueberry pie.
