We received a warm welcome from one of the owners, the charismatic Michael Liquorish, who treats newcomers as old friends. After a drink at the bar, we were led through to the restaurant area and were captivated by its beautiful candle-lit tables and traditional wooden detail interior; the dining room speaks softly of warmth and comfort. You are spoilt for choice with the impressive à la carte menu, daily blackboard specials and exhaustive wine list, all of which are sure to satisfy food and drink connoisseurs. I chose the understandably popular braised pork belly on a bed of spinach with truffle mash (£12.95) while my friend decided on the prime Scottish rib eye (£15.95) with chips and home-made blue cheese sauce. For dessert we shared the stuffed apple with rhubarb crumble with cinnamon ice cream (£5.95) followed by a cappuccino and peppermint tea (both £1.95). With eight luxury bedrooms upstairs, The Bunk Inn and Restaurant is a place you are sure to return to not only for the cuisine but also its excellent staff, environmental setting and décor. That is, of course, after you have recommended and boasted of the discovery to everyone you know.
