After a drink at the bar, we were led through to the restaurant area and were captivated by its beautiful candle-lit tables and traditional wooden detail interior; the dining room speaks softly of warmth and comfort. You are spoilt for choice with the impressive à la carte menu, daily blackboard specials and exhaustive wine list, all of which are sure to satisfy food and drink connoisseurs.

I chose the understandably popular braised pork belly on a bed of spinach with truffle mash (£12.95) while my friend decided on the prime Scottish rib eye (£15.95) with chips and home-made blue cheese sauce. For dessert we shared the stuffed apple with rhubarb crumble with cinnamon ice cream (£5.95) followed by a cappuccino and peppermint tea (both £1.95).
